The Crown Lacrosse Classic Names The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation As Its Official Charity
The Crown Lacrosse Classic today announced its partnership with The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation (CPWLF) and named CPWLF as its official charity. CPWLF was founded by 4-time All-American and Hall of Famer Casey Powell and supports sick and severely injured lacrosse players, many of whom are children with cancer or spinal cord injuries.
“Our lacrosse community has seen firsthand the positive impact that The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation has had on families here in Charlotte,” said Chris Schiller, co-founder of The Crown Lacrosse Classic. “Today, we are very proud to partner with an organization that has brought so much support and love to our lacrosse families in need.”
As part of its partnership with CPWLF, The Crown Lacrosse Classic will include events honoring lacrosse players who have been supported by The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation, including goalie Noah Hays from Charlotte who lost his courageous battle with cancer at age 19 in June 2018. Also honored will be Lance Fenderson, a high school lacrosse player from Charlotte who suffered a spinal cord injury during a game and is fighting to walk again.
A CPWLF tent will be set up on-site where attendees can meet Noah Hays’s family, make donations and show their support. Online donations can be made at https://worldlacrosse.org.
“The Crown Lacrosse Classic is a celebration of our sport intended to bring the lacrosse community together for an unrivaled weekend of lacrosse,” said Casey Powell, founder of The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation. “The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation is thankful and proud to share, support and inspire its mission at this amazing event.”
About The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation
The Casey Powell World Lacrosse Foundation (CPWLF) was founded in 2014 by legendary, 4-time All-American, Hall of Fame lacrosse player Casey Powell and Heather Chase O’Neill. Its mission is to share, support and inspire: to share the love of the game of lacrosse; to support sick and severely injured lacrosse players and their families; and to inspire others to become ambassadors. CPWLF creates a network of support around its families who are undergoing difficult circumstances and stays with these families throughout their journeys.
